Okay, so technically summer isn’t at an end for a while, but it basically is. Kids are going back to school, spouses are going back to work, activities scheduled for summer time are wrapping up. While this is not the end of the world, I have this sadness that won’t go away. At the same time, I know this is good for all the kiddies out there who need to learn all the things kiddies need to learn in their schooling. They’ve had their break, now time to get back to the learning.
It has been an interesting summer. We went to World’s of Fun and loved it, spent some time with family, enjoyed the swimming pools, saw some movies, ate out too much, didn’t exercise nearly enough, and all around enjoyed spending the warm days doing things that didn’t involve locking ourselves away at home with the heater cranked up, which is what we spent all of last winter doing. It seemed like last winter would never end. I hope this year is better, and that summer lasts a while longer and fall goes on for a very long time this year.
I just realized how long it has been since I posted last. Wow! Sorry about that. I’ll try to do better, I’ve just been out running and doing things while the weather allows.
I had a chance to go to the Johnson County Museum the other day and it was a really cool little museum. I recommend it to anyone in the area. There’s a lot of talk about how the KC area grew over the years, some stuff about an ammunition plant here that supplied the military for World War II, and even a really slick 1955 Chevy Bel Air.
Sunday there was something in the air here, some pollen or something, and it caused a horrible allergy attack. I took a Benadryl(okay, so it was generic, ’cause I’m frugal like that), and it wiped me out for the whole day. I felt like a zombie. Well, except for the craving brains part. Eww.
You all really should take a look at the Youtube channel SayWhatPabs. His videos are funny. He’s an amusing guy. Go. Subscribe.
I got this magnetic nose stud thingy. I really like it, but it comes off really easily. Like any time I wipe my nose. And I’ve previously mentioned in this post that I have allergies, so ya know… that happens a lot. I’m thinking of getting a real piercing. Of course I need to wait until I find a job. If I had a bad reaction or got an infection it would make it awkward interviewing. I don’t know if many places would hire the girl with the swollen nostril.
I saw something really interesting the other day, and I hadn’t had a chance to check it out until just a few minutes ago. The Internet Archive has emulators for several retro (really, really retro) video games, and they run in your browser. You can find them at https://archive.org/details/consolelivingroom. I tried some of the Atari 2600 ones, they seemed pretty cool. I know a lot of people weren’t born yet when these old games came out, but these laid the groundwork for everything we see now. It’s kind of cool to see how far we’ve come.
