Closing In On A Release

The mysterious, as yet still untitled (really ought to do something about that, I suppose) book that is number 3 in the Non-Vampire series will be finished up very soon. Very, very soon. And then I’ll release this thing so I can move on to editing one of my other stories.

Right now I’m letting my beta reader (aka my wife) read through it and give me her opinions and let her catch anything I missed as far as typos and such. I’ve gone over it several times already, so I think it’s about as clean as I can get it, so I don’t think she’ll find a whole lot.

But she did come up with a couple of little tweaks on how to clarify certain little areas in the story. This is interesting, because I didn’t even realize those areas needed clarified until she mentioned it. Being the author, I of course already know what Brynne is thinking, so it didn’t occur to me in those cases that others may not. These are very small changes, like possibly adding a couple of paragraphs in total, but I do think they will improve things. Any little things she can find to improve the story is just a bonus at this point.

What else is going on? Hmm, let’s see…

Well, there are about sixty bajillion potholes in the roads around here, because of this tough winter. We have small cars. Small cars that can be swallowed by large potholes. If you don’t hear from us for a long time, hire a crane and start checking potholes. Bring cookies.

I’ve been playing around with a program called FireAlpaca lately. It’s a free graphics program, and I really like it so far. Does it have every feature that the Adobe products have? No. Does it run quickly and not bog down the computer like Adobe? Yes. I’m not ever going to be a professional artist or anything, but I like to doodle in it sometimes. Plus, I touch up images for my book covers, so it’s nice to try out new software now and then.

And now a weekend. Hopefully a good one, but we’re supposed to get snow Saturday and Sunday. Again. The desert is sounding better all the time, isn’t it?

Have a good weekend, everyone!
