Looking for reviewers
My new book is coming along, and will be ready to release before very long. I’m finishing up the last of the editing, so it will be in the next couple of weeks if I can get everything lined up in time.
So here comes the part where anyone reading this can help out. I would like to get some early reviews up on Amazon and Goodreads when I list it. Because of this, I’m willing to send out a free copy to about 10 people in hopes of getting honest reviews posted. I can’t require it, but if you’re willing to give it a read and then later post a review if you like it, I’d appreciate.
Keep in mind, this book is about a teen girl who ends up in the faerie realm (not the Tinkerbell kind of faeries).
Anyone who is interested please contact me. I’ll add you to the list of potential reviewers and let you know.
I’m not going into a lot of detail here, but we saw this movie last Saturday. It was really good! I think it was by far the best of the series. And it was very true to the book. Okay, so there were some things missing, and they made some minor changes, but it had the same feel and had the important stuff from the book.
This is the time of year we all go home for family visits, or host family while they visit, and we enjoy each others’ company. Many of us spend extra time thinking about how important our family is to us and how much we appreciate them. Yeah, for some people it’s all about football and turkey, but for a lot of us it’s all about family. So take a moment to really appreciate them while you can.
Speaking of family…
My mom is in the hospital right now. She isn’t doing too well. We think she had a stroke, and they are keeping an eye on her right now to see how she recovers. So if you’re the praying type, please say a little extra one for her, and if you’re not the praying type then just keep a nice thought out for her if you wouldn’t mind. Get better Mom!
Everyone be safe this week!
This isn’t a post about Barbie visiting the capital city of Utah.
Instead I wanted to talk about two unrelated stories I saw in the news recently.
I don’t know if you’ve see this yet, but Mattel has finally put a boy in commercial for Barbie!
I know, I know, it is long overdue. This is 100%, completely, totally true. But I think sometimes we get so blinded by the *it’s about time!* that we don’t recognize progress in the world. Barbie is a doll. When I was a kid (it truly wasn’t that long ago, I promise) girls played with Barbies, boys played with G.I.Joe or Star Wars action figures. Yes, some girls got to play with Star Wars action figures too, because Star Wars is… well, Star Wars! But for the most part, boys played with action figures while girls played with dolls.
Of course we all know action figures really are just dolls, anyway.
I would like to add that some of the people making comments in the link that I provided are very disturbed and hateful individuals who really just need to worry more about themselves and less about things like this.
This is another *it’s about time*, but it’s a wonderful step in the right direction for a city that is smack dab in the middle of a very conservative place. I just felt like I had to recognize this, because it really is an example where people overcame the fear and prejudice and selected who they thought was right.
My faerie story
A bonus topic!
I just wanted to update everyone on the progress. I’m basically through my first round of editing, and will move on to revisions soon. I identified a couple of areas I’d like to punch up a little before releasing. Everything is on track for a probable January release. There’s even a really good artist who has volunteered already working on the cover. I’ll keep everyone updated!
